Harm

Harm essentially what it means in lay terms.  That is to say, it is the detriment that a person or entity suffers.  Harm is often an element of a civil wrong.  Without harm, a plaintiff cannot obtain a monetary remedy.

Harm distinguished from damages

Harm should be distinguished from damages.  Damages is the measure of the remedy that the court can award for harm.
